Oxyprime® Duo Membrane Oxygenator

The Oxyprime Duo Membrane Oxygenator consists of two coupled chambers (Gas Exchanger and Heat Exchanger), and is indicated for extracorporeal circulation (ECC) procedures lasting up to 6 hours.

The internal space of the gas exchanger is filled with a Polypropylene (PP) membrane, formed by capillary fibers with a highly porous surface. The high porosity of the capillaries, associated with a uniform distribution of pores, provides high gas transfer (diffusion) performance, desirable to meet the fundamental principle of an Oxygenator: efficiency in transferring Oxygen (O2) to the blood and removing carbon dioxide (CO2).

The Oxyprime Duo Membrane Oxygenator has an integrated arterial filter, made of polyester, specially developed for this application. The filter has a porosity of 41 microns. The hydrophobic characteristics of the filter fabric hinder the passage of air bubbles, in addition to filtering particles and clots larger than its porosity. Besides the filter, the Oxyprime Duo features a bubble removal geometry in the heat exchanger section, called a "Bubble Trap," where the extension tube should be connected to the luer connector of the heat exchanger. This geometry is responsible for eliminating large embolisms that may enter the circuit and should remain open during the procedure.

The internal space of the heat exchanger is filled with thermoplastic polymer capillaries. This thermoplastic composition, combined with the characteristics of the production process, results in non-porous capillaries, completely impermeable to blood and water, and with a high capacity for heat transfer.

All oxygenator surfaces that come into contact with blood are treated with a biocompatible coating, called BRCoating, composed of reverse osmosis water, Polyethylene Glycol 300, and recombinant human albumin*. This solution coats the internal surface of the product, reducing blood interaction with it.

Recombinant human albumin is not derived from animal or human sources.
