The legacy of Dr. Domingo Braile and the transformation of world medicine.

Domingo Marcolino Braile always believed that medicine should reach everyone. A graduate of the USP Faculty of Medicine, he developed, from an early age, a perspective that combined clinical precision, inventive thinking, and a deep commitment to human lives.

Even as a young man, he saw mechanics and engineering as a path to the future. This combination of science and creativity shaped his career.

Dedication that opened doors

For Dr. Domingo Braile, innovation was not a goal, it was a necessity to save lives and democratize access to treatments that were previously unimaginable.

Dr. Domingo Braile performed thousands of surgeries throughout his life.

Implemented 21 cardiac surgery services in Brazil.

He trained more than 200 residents and specialists in surgery.

He was one of the first to perform cardiac surgery with extracorporeal circulation outside of capital cities.

He lived medicine as a mission, combining technique and humanity.

The origin of Braille.

In 1977, driven by the desire to expand people's access to cardiac surgery, Dr. Domingo founded IMC Biomédica, which would later become Braile. The company was born with a bold purpose: to produce highly complex devices that previously depended on imports, such as heart valves, oxygenators, and extracorporeal circulation machines.

By replacing foreign dependence with domestic technology, Braile has propelled Brazil to the top of the world in cardiac surgery.
