HIPEC CONGRESS
For the first time, Latin America hosted an event of the Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International - PSOGI, an international society with the goal of spreading the most effective modalities in the treatment of cancer that affects the peritoneum.
The event was held from March 31st to April 1st at the Bahia Othon Palace Hotel in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, it had many important participations, among companies and personalities. Among the companies, Braile Biomédica was present. HIPEC 2017 has offered a multidisciplinary program for Oncology Surgeons, Clinical Oncologists, Anesthesiologists and Intensivists who have performed or are interested in start performing surgical cytoreduction with HIPEC.
World references were at the event to present the most current and effective in the treatment of cancer that affects the peritoneum, such as the inventor of this technique, Prof. Paul Sugarbaker and the author of the scientific papers that placed HIPEC as the best treatment for colorectal cancer carcinomatosis, Prof. Vic Verwaal.
Protocols were presented with discussion of the best indications, surgical techniques, chemotherapy regimens and a fundamental theme that is the intra and postoperative management of patients submitted to HIPEC cytoreduction. Henrique Mello, Vanusa Barros, Patricia Stona, Grace Rodrigues, Renata Gabaldi, Dayane Feitosa and Rafael Braile represented Braile Biomédica at the event.
